Ealing Council is appealing for more businesses in the borough to take part in a work experience scheme for local students, saying placements can help young people build confidence and inform future career choices.
The programme is due to run from March 2026 to July 2026, with participating employers asked to offer a placement of at least one week. The council said its work experience team would tailor arrangements to each business and handle administration, safeguarding and coordination, with employers providing a “welcoming space” and opportunities for students to learn about working life.
Kamaljit Nagpal, Ealing’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, said council staff and students had benefited from previous placements and urged more employers “big or small” to get involved.
Councillor Nagpal said: “Although lots of local employers are already signed up to take part, we are always looking for more to get involved. If you are an employer in the borough, big or small, please consider offering work experience to our talented young people.”
The initiative is part of the council’s wider jobs and skills agenda for the 2022–26 council term. Ealing Council said it was on track to meet or exceed targets by the end of April 2026 which includes almost 11,000 new job opportunities offered by local employers, more than 7,000 residents supported into work, and 2,500 additional apprenticeships created for young people.
Businesses interested in joining the scheme have been asked to contact the council’s work experience team by emailing: SchoolsWorkExperience@ealing.gov.uk
