Plans to refurbish a pedestrian underpass beneath the A40 in Hanger Lane are being drawn up, with separate CCTV improvements in the area expected to be funded through developer contributions in 2026, according to Ealing Liberal Democrats.
The party said its councillors Athena Zissimos and Jonathan Oxley had been in discussions with the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) about the “dishevelled” state of the subway in Hanger Hill, and were pressing for it to be prioritised for refurbishment.
In a statement, the Lib Dems said section 106 funds were being allocated for CCTV work on Mason’s Green Lane in 2026, while further upgrades were being explored, including improved lighting, street furniture, paving repairs and planting.
Councillor Zissimos, the Liberal Democrat councillor for Hanger Hill and her party’s spokesperson for environment, streets, parks and climate change, said: “The Ealing Liberal Democrats are pleased that engaging with these various parties in a coordinated way is starting to bear fruit for the local residents in Hanger Hill, Park Royal and around.”
She added it was “disappointing” that Labour-run Ealing Council had not been “pro-active in a way that would bring benefits to the area”.
