Housing association giant Clarion Housing Group has awarded nearly £50,000 to community organisations in West Ealing through a grants programme aimed at supporting residents and strengthening local services.
Clarion Futures, the charitable foundation of Clarion, said £49,180 had been shared between 10 groups in the latest round of its West Ealing Community Grants Programme. The scheme was established in 2021 as part of Clarion’s commitment linked to the regeneration of Sherwood Close and has awarded more than £310,000 since it began.
Projects are selected by a panel of local residents and representatives from Clarion Futures and A2 Dominion, supported by local councillors.
The organisations funded in this round are: Adult & Community Development Academy (£4,950), AM Partnership Group CIC (£4,981), Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter (£5,000), Ealing Mencap (£4,347), Mahaba Café (£5,000), Middlesex Association for the Blind (£5,000), Mindfulness CIC (£4,920), Sal’s Shoes (£5,000), The Store Cupboard CIO (£4,986) and West Ealing Community CIC (£4,996).
The funding includes support for digital inclusion work, youth programmes for girls, winter welfare benefits advice, emergency shelter for rough sleepers, job coaching for young people with special educational needs and disabilities, services for people with visual impairment, and workshops for parents and carers on supporting children’s mental health.
Other projects will provide free school shoes for children in need and support a food cupboard manager role, alongside digital skills workshops and community events intended to reduce social isolation.
Matt Parsonage, head of communities at Clarion Futures, said: “Partnering with organisations that share our values allows us to have a greater impact for local residents, so we’re proud to support these ten groups making a real difference in West Ealing.”
Councillor Blerina Hashani, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for thriving communities, added: “This grants programme is a great example of the work housing associations like Clarion can do to support residents. By working with local people to identify projects to fund, Clarion Futures is making a real difference to the community, and we’re delighted to be part of it.”
