Two young boxers from an Acton boxing club have won gold medals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Damar Thomas, 21, won gold in the +90kg category, while 24-year-old Patrice Mughulazai took gold at 65kg.
Both train at Acton’s Powerday Hooks Boxing Club in Popes Lane, which has been established for more than a decade and coaches young people as well as anyone wanting to learn boxing.
The pair train six days a week and the club says they are now helping younger members by sharing their experience and knowledge.
Liberal Democrat councillor Connie Hersch, the party’s spokesperson for culture, sport and communities, visited the club to congratulate the two champions.
She said Powerday Hooks showed how grassroots sport could produce “national sporting heroes” while highlighting the contribution made by its coaches and volunteers.
