Following the closure of 86 of its 235 ATS Euromaster motoring service centres including its branch in Park Royal, rival Halfords has said it is offering job interviews to all members of staff affected by the closure of the branches.
The motoring service giant, which has 639 garages across the UK, says it works with 1,400,000 customers each year offering a range of services including MOTs, car services, repairs and new tyres.
Last month, ATS Euromaster, which is owned by tyre giant Michelin told industry publication Fleetnews it was shutting branches due to “overcapacity” in the market. In a statement, it said: “In a UK automotive aftermarket context of overcapacity, increasing costs and sluggish activity and growth, ATS Euromaster intends to review its current operating model and has put in place a proposal to close non profitable service centres.”
According to the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) there are currrently around 20,000 vacancies for staff needed in the sector. Halfords said it is looking to further recruit for a range of careers it offers.
Leon Deehy, Halfords divisional director said: “We are pleased to be working in partnership with ATS to explore employment opportunities for affected colleagues, while also ensuring that motorists in these parts of London continue to have access to competitive, convenient, and trusted automotive services.”
