A man has been remanded in custody after being charged with allegedly possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply following his arrest on Leopold Road, next to Ealing Common.
Police said the defendant had previously been arrested on Leopold Road in April this year over another alleged drugs offence. That earlier case had reportedly been listed for trial at Isleworth Crown Court in 2030 because of court backlogs, but following the latest arrest he has now been remanded in custody ahead of a hearing on 19 August. Police said both cases are now expected to be heard at Crown Court later this year.
Neighbourhood police said officers arrested the man last Tuesday (21 July 2026) after responding to reports of suspected drug use on the green beside Leopold Road. Police allege he tried to run away before discarding a package containing crack cocaine. He was also charged with cannabis possession before appearing at court the following day.
While in custody, the man was also issued with a Community Protection Notice banning him from entering the Ealing Common and Hanger Hill wards if he is released before trial.
Posting on Met Engage, Sergeant Ashley Love, of the Ealing Common and Hanger Hill neighbourhood policing team, said: “Unfortunately due to the court backlog his trial at Isleworth Crown Court was not listed until late 2030. The male has now been remanded in prison until a hearing on 19 August and both matters will be heard at a Crown Court trial this year.”
