A 14-year-old student from Perivale who was honoured by the BBC for his inspirational fundraising is taking on his latest challenge to support young people with cancer.
Raphael Chiwandire, a multi-sport athlete who also plays as a goalkeeper for Hanwell Town FC, is aiming to complete 3,000 push-ups throughout November to raise funds and awareness for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
In September 2025, he received the BBC London Make a Difference Award – Young Hero for his incredible fundraising work for the charity. It followed a year on from September 2024, when he was named Sports Leader of the Year at the prestigious Young Ealing Foundation Awards, recognising his dedication to sport and community leadership.
Among his achievements, Raphael raised £756 for the Teenage Cancer Trust by taking part in a charity run at Alton Towers in November 2024.
The teenager, who has also become a volunteer and young ambassador for the charity, previously told EALING.NEWS: “I choose to support the Teenage Cancer Trust because as a teenager myself, it deeply saddens me to witness so many young people battling cancer. It is my heartfelt mission to make a difference by raising funds for this cause.”
His proud mum, Nyasha Chiwandire, said: “Every bit of support makes a real difference and keeps him motivated to reach his goal.”
