If you’re looking for an electrician, Ealing has more working electricians living in the borough per 10,000 homes than the London average, according to new figures.
Ealing has 145.6 working electricians for every 10,000 homes, according to an analysis of Office for National Statistics (ONS) Annual Population Survey data by electrical training provider Elec Training.
The number is 16.5% above the London borough average of 125.01, although just below the UK average of 147 cited in the study.
Ealing also compares well with several neighbouring boroughs. Hammersmith and Fulham has just 66.5 electricians per 10,000 homes, Hounslow 128.5 and Brent 144.1.
However, Harrow has 170.3 electricians per 10,000 homes, while Hillingdon has 182.6.
Across London, the numbers vary considerably. Havering has the highest number, with 260.9 electricians per 10,000 homes, while Kensington and Chelsea has the lowest at 37.2.
Elec Training used the number of electricians relative to homes to suggest where residents may find it easier or harder to secure an appointment. The research did not measure actual waiting times.
Charanjit Mannu, director of Elec Training, said: “Ealing stands out in this study as having a fairly high supply of electricians, exceeding the London borough average by over 16%.
“This suggests that residents in Ealing may find it easier to secure an electrician appointment than in many other parts of the capital.
“However, Ealing’s electrician count still falls below the UK average of 147 per 10,000 homes, which may place pressure on the London borough’s electrical workforce in the coming years.”
Separate research published in July by apprenticeship provider JTL found England’s electrical workforce had remained broadly static during 2025, while the number of people starting electrical apprenticeships was below the level it estimates is needed to meet future demand.
