Five e-scooters have been seized and five riders issued with tickets during a police clampdown in Southall targeting illegal and dangerous riding.
Officers from Southall Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out Operation Overvolt last week (2 September 2026), stopping e-scooters and e-bikes where there were concerns about whether they were being legally used.
Police said five e-scooters were seized, with five riders given tickets for riding on the pavement and without insurance.
Posting on Met Engage, PCSO Czeslaw Rush from Southall Green Ward said: “This operation was launched to tackle e-scooters and e-bikes riding illegally and dangerously on the roads or pavement.”
Police said the five riders whose e-scooters were seized were told how they could recover them and that privately owned e-scooters can only be ridden legally on private land.
As well as the e-scooters, officers also checked e-bikes during the operation and said none were seized.
