Thousands more homes and businesses in Ealing are set to gain access to full-fibre broadband, as part of Openreach’s latest expansion across London.
The company said the upgrade will connect additional properties within Ealing itself, while around 43,000 premises across the wider borough already have access to its full fibre network. The technology offers gigabit-capable speeds and more reliable connections than traditional copper lines.
Openreach engineers will begin work in the coming months as part of a broader rollout covering areas including Barnet, Croydon, Enfield, Kingston and Hammersmith. The firm said it would use existing ducts and poles wherever possible to reduce disruption, though some new infrastructure may still be needed.
Kieran Wines, Openreach’s partnership director, said: “This is a major infrastructure upgrade, so there will be more engineering teams, equipment and vans around town, and we’re working hard to keep disruption to a minimum.”
