A new community market founded by parents at a French bilingual primary school in Hanwell will launch this weekend with 30 stalls.
Marché Malraux will be held at André Malraux Primary School in Laurie Road on Sunday (13 September 2026) from 9am to 3pm.
The market was co-founded by parents Diane Bakemhe and Larissa Pelham and is being run by the CIPL Parents’ Association.
Marché Malraux co-founder Diane Bakemhe told EALING.NEWS: “Although we are part of the French school network, the school is increasingly embracing its bilingual character and wants English-speaking and local families to feel that André Malraux is part of their community too.
“We wanted to find a way of opening our doors, making local families more aware of who we are, while at the same time doing something positive for the community around us.”
Stallholders will include Jasmin Bloom, Juma Ceramics, JJ Eartherley, Nana Chutneys, Ealing Wine Cellars and Olivier’s Bakery.
Visitors will also find food, locally made products, activities for families and a raffle. Any surplus from fundraising will be reinvested in activities and experiences for the school’s children and families.
Organisers hope Marché Malraux will become a seasonal event, with a second market already planned for 6 December 2026 and a possible Easter market in 2027.
