Ealing Trailfinders beat Coventry 55-38 in their final home game of the season on Saturday (24 May 2025).
Tries from Will Montgomery, Jordy Reid, Francis Moore, Kabous Bezuidenhout, and braces from Matt Cornish, Michael Dykes and Francis Moore secured the win at Trailfinders Sports Club.
An early statement was made by Ealing Trailfinders when Montgomery went crashing through the defence to score near enough underneath the sticks.
Coventry didn’t take long to hit back, captain Jordan Poole found himself on the end of a Senitiki Nayalo line break.
Tobi Wilson made the break and created a two-on-one opportunity which allowed Dykes to walk in on the left-hand side.
Dykes was on hand again to complete his first-half brace. The ball was fizzed out wide by Dan Jones and the winger ran in untouched.
The visitors refused to lie down in the opening 40, and after setting one up earlier, this time Nayalo powered his way over himself to make it a one-score game.
It’s been a strong facet of their game all season and Reid was able to profit to extend the hosts’ lead.
Coventry were awarded a much-needed penalty try on the stroke of half-time to once again bring the game to one score.
Half-time: Ealing Trailfinders 26-19 Coventry
Coventry has a perfect start to the second half as Jordan Poole crossed for his brace at the back of a rolling maul.
With the replacement front-row unloaded on the 50th minute, they were keen to make an impact and that they did. Kyle Whyte made a line break which put the defence in disarray and allowed Moore to score.
Moments later, Trailfinders found themselves in the Coventry red zone again. This time it was Bezuidenhout who wrestled his way over to score his first try for the club.
With a quarter of the game to play, Trailfinders’ maul was at it again and this time. Cornish added his name to the scoresheet.
Moore and Cornish both added to their personal tallies in the next ten minutes with close-range efforts.
Two consolation scores from Coventry’s Suva Ma’asi were not enough for Coventry to make a dent in the scoreline.
