Ealing residents are now able to add toothpaste tubes and most plastic plant pots to their household recycling.
Ealing Council has highlighted the new additions during Recycle Week, which runs from 14 to 20 September 2026.
Both have been added to council collections following recent changes within the recycling industry, allowing the council to accept a wider range of items.
Gardeners will still need to check the colour of their plant pots. Black pots cannot be recycled because sorting equipment is unable to detect the material, but plastic pots in other colours will be accepted.
Councillor Dominic Moffitt, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for climate action: “Whether it is recycling your toothpaste tubes, using your food waste caddy or giving unwanted items a second life, every item recycled helps cut waste and save valuable resources.”
