Community-run Greenford Library seeks volunteers

Greenford Library is looking for volunteers to help with its ambitious plans as it continues to grow as a community-run space.

The Hub @ Greenford Library, on Oldfield Lane South, is currently open on Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm and Thursdays from 1pm to 5pm, and is inviting residents to get involved in supporting its expanding range of activities.

Managed by the Young Ealing Foundation, the library describes itself as ‘a welcoming, creative and inclusive space’ for Greenford locals. Additional volunteers are needed to help with day-to-day library services, events and outreach programmes.

Speaking to EALING.NEWS, a Young Ealing Foundation spokesperson said: “This is a unique chance to be part of something special right from the start. We’re looking for local people who are passionate about community, books and making a difference to help shape Greenford Library into a welcoming space for everyone.”

They added: “Whether you’ve got a few hours a week or a brilliant activity you’d love to run, we’d love to hear from you.”

Volunteers can take on a range of roles, from assisting visitors and organising community sessions to helping promote events and maintain the library’s digital presence. The foundation says: “We welcome volunteers of all ages and from all backgrounds. We provide comprehensive training, a warm and supportive team and expenses.”

Anyone interested in joining can fill out the online volunteer form via greenfordlibrary.org.uk or visit the library in person during opening hours.
