Acton’s Twyford celebrates GCSE results above national averages

Nearly half of GCSE grades awarded at Acton’s Twyford Church of England High School were at grades 7 to 9 this year – more than double the national figure.

The school recorded 49% of grades at 7 to 9, compared with 22% nationally, while 82% were grade 5 or above against a national figure of 56%.

A total of 91% of grades were at grade 4 or above, compared with 67% nationally.

Nine Twyford students achieved eight or more grade 9s, with Kayden Tan receiving 11 grade 9s.

The school also said 60% of students achieved a grade 5 or above in their English Baccalaureate (EBacc) subjects.

Headteacher Phil Bennett said: “I am so proud and delighted that Twyford has continued to support students to do their very best across all subjects including a wide range of creative and practical options such as Music, Drama, Art and Graphics.

“It has enabled our students to access a wider range of courses post-16.”
