A Southall pub and its director have been ordered to pay £17,000 after admitting offences involving bedbugs, cockroaches and safety hazards.
Old Oak Tree Pub Ltd, which operates the Old Oak Tree Pub at 2A The Common, Southall, and director Darshan Singh Grewal pleaded guilty at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court last month (28 July 2026).
Ealing Council began investigating the premises in 2023 following complaints from members of the public.
Inspections found bedbugs in guest bedrooms, cockroaches in the kitchen and slip, trip and fall hazards.
The council said the business was given advice and warning letters before legal notices were served requiring improvements. Further inspections found problems had not been adequately dealt with.
The company admitted failing to comply with a Health and Safety Improvement Notice covering slip, trip and fall risks.
It and Mr Grewal also admitted two offences under the Public Health Act relating to failures to deal with cockroach and bedbug activity.
Old Oak Tree Pub Ltd was fined £4,800 and Mr Grewal was fined £4,000. They were also ordered to pay a £3,200 victim surcharge and £5,000 prosecution costs, bringing the total to £17,000.
Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, Ealing Council cabinet member for decent living incomes, said: “Businesses have a legal responsibility to provide safe and hygienic environments for their customers, visitors, and staff.
“In this case, our officers found repeated failures over a long period of time, despite providing advice and several opportunities for the business to address the problems.”
