GCSE success for students at Dormers Wells High School in Southall

Students at Dormers Wells High School are celebrating their GCSE results after 70% achieved grade 4 or above in both English and maths.

Results released show 54% of pupils at the Southall school achieved grade 5 or above in both subjects.

More than a third of English entries, 34%, were awarded the higher grades of 7 to 9, while 30% of maths entries achieved grades 7 to 9.

The school also recorded a Progress 8 score of 1.00, which means pupils achieved an average of one grade higher per subject than students nationally who had similar attainment at the end of primary school.

Students will now move on to the school’s sixth form, colleges, apprenticeships and other post-16 options.

Roisin Walsh, headteacher at Dormers Wells High School, said: “We are incredibly proud of our students and all that they have accomplished.

“Most importantly, these results represent the opportunities that now lie ahead for our young people as they move on to the next stage of their education, training and careers.”
