Ealing residents experiencing a mental health crisis are set to have access to an expanded specialist service from early next year.
West London NHS Trust is set to make its existing Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service (MHCAS) at Lakeside a permanent, larger facility. Located next to West Middlesex University Hospital in nearby Isleworth, it can be accessed by residents from Ealing, Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham.
MHCAS opened in December 2025 and has already helped more than 370 people to receive specialist mental health care.
The expansion comes as the government announced a £343 million programme to open 159 new mental health facilities across England, including 31 in London.
The programme includes 100 community-based mental health centres and 59 dedicated mental health emergency departments, aimed at providing earlier support and giving people experiencing a crisis an alternative to receiving mental health care in a busy A&E.
Lakeside is among those receiving investment, with a permanent expanded facility to open in 2027.
A West London NHS Trust spokesperson told EALING.NEWS: “The Lakeside Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service adjacent to West Middlesex Hospital can be accessed by residents across Ealing, Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham.
“Since its launch in December 2025, it has already supported more than 370 people to receive specialist mental health care. Plans are underway to open a permanent, expanded facility at the site early next year so that more people in crisis can benefit from specialist care in a place designed for them.”
The trust has also confirmed to EALING.NEWS that it is working with partners to develop enhanced neighbourhood mental health services in Ealing over the next three years, alongside services in neighbouring Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham.
The spokesperson added: “The plans support our ambition to provide more accessible, community-based services, ensuring people get the right support, closer to home and when they need it most.”
