A disappointing result in the west country on Saturday (18 April 2026) for Hanwell Town as they fall to a 2-0 defeat against Plymouth Parkway. An opener from Jack Veale gave the hosts the lead in the first half and a second from Andrew Neal gave Plymouth all three points.
The first half started in lively fashion. Both sides had good chances early on with Hanwell’s coming through Harvey Bradbry and Eli Oladunjoye, both of which were defended strongly by Plymouth Parkway.
The hosts responded well with Jensen Ireland firing a powerful shot from the right edge of the box. But Geordies goalkeeper Sam Beasant stood firm and blocked the shot, keeping the scores level.
The half turned into a scrappy affair with injuries to Callum Woodcock and freekicks for both sides breaking up the flow of play.
However, five minutes from the break, Hanwell’s best chance came through a driving run from Oladunjoye. He did brilliantly to beat two defenders, crossing the ball into the box but there was no one in a purple shirt to tap home.
After Harry Hoath came off injured for the Geordies, in the fifth minute of additional time the hosts took the lead. A floating corner to the back post found the feet of Veale who calmy poked past Beasant to give Plymouth the lead at the break.
Starting the second half, Hanwell came out much the better team. Woodcock was inches away from heading home but the cross was just too high. Minutes later, Henry Snee also came close but he headed just wide.
However, 20 minutes into the second half, the hosts doubled their lead. Dwayne Duncan and Jack Matton were second best to a high ball, allowing Neal to run through and slot low past Beasant.
Following that, Plymouth controlled the game and really should have extended their advantage further.
Rio Garside did well to find some space on the right-hand side of the box and played the ball across. However, there was no Plymouth attackers waiting and the ball was cleared.
Heading towards the conclusion of the game, the hosts were very professional and saw the game out well. The final chance fell to substitute James Walts-Barciela who fired the ball against the bar.
With the full-time whistle going, two goals helped Parkway to secure survival and ensure they will be playing in the league next year. However, for Hanwell, they will need to wait until the last game of the season to see their fate.
The last game of the season for the Geordies is next up when Basingstoke Town travel to West London on Saturday 25th of April at 3pm.
