Match Report: Ealing Trailfinders 41 v Cornish Pirates 26

Ealing Trailfinders continue their winning run in the Champ after a stellar second half against Cornish Pirates on Saturday (18 April 2026).

The stage was set for a fantastic contest between Ealing Trailfinders and Cornish Pirates as George Davis ran out for his 100th cap.

In the opening minutes, both sides were physical in the midfield, until the five minute mark hit and Trailfinders ran the ball wide. Toby Cousins mustered his way down the wing to score in the right-hand corner for the opening try of the match.

Cornish Pirates struck back twenty minutes later from the hands of Milo Hallam. Arwell Robson added the extras.

Two minutes until half-time, Pirates found themselves in Trailfinders’ 22 once more but the men in green held firm in defence and drew the penalty from their maul.

A knock-on in the final play of the first half saw the visitors go into the changing rooms with a two-point lead.

The second half was a stellar one from both sides.

Pirates scored the third try of the match from a driving maul in the lefthand corner.

As the clock edged into the final quarter, Trailfinders found their flow for a scintillating display of tries.

Tom Collins scored in the corner for Trailfinders’ second try. Two minutes later, a line out gathered in the fingertips of Sean Lonsdale was sent back in field to Conor Oliver who broke away through the Pirates defence to score under the posts.

Lonsdale reaped the fruits of his labour too by scoring from short-range for the bonus-point try.

Hooker Mike Willemse ran the ball in for Trailfinders’ fifth try with ten minutes left to go.

Pirates were not to be silenced and scored their third try from the hands of Moody with five minutes to go.

Toby Cousins got a second try for the men in green as the clock dwindled to extend the scoreline.

Matty Ward followed up with the visitor’s bonus-point try with a breakaway downfield to score under the posts.

Yet, it was Trailfinders who had the last word in the contest. David Bridge read the intercept and scored under the posts. George Worboys slotted the conversion to give the men in green another bonus-point win on home turf.
