East Acton house fire leaves two cats dead

Two cats have died in a house fire in East Acton, with firefighters rescuing a kitten from the blaze on Tuesday (24 March 2026) afternoon.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to Carlisle Avenue on Thursday afternoon, where the ground floor of a two-storey house was destroyed and part of the first floor damaged.

One woman managed to leave the property before crews arrived and was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service for treatment for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters rescued a kitten from inside the house, but two other cats were found dead at the scene.

The London Fire Brigade said it received the first of four emergency calls at 3.05pm, with crews from Hammersmith, North Kensington, Willesden, Chiswick and Wembley stations attending.

The fire was brought under control by 4.41pm.

The cause of the blaze is being treated as undetermined.
