Trailfinders Women have strengthened their squad with the signing of Canadian international full-back Claire Gallagher ahead of the new 2025/26 Premiership Women’s Rugby season.
Gallagher arrives from league rivals Leicester Tigers, where she played alongside new Trailfinders teammates Meg Jones and Francesca McGhie.
25-year-old Gallagher won her first cap for Canada in 2023 against New Zealand and has continued to develop her game with the Maple Leafs. Known for her versatility, Gallagher brings a sharp attacking instinct, technical proficiency, and a strong kicking game to the backline.
Head coach Barney Maddison said: “Claire is an exciting addition to our squad. Her experience at the international level will be invaluable, and we’re looking forward to seeing her make an impact.”
Gallagher cited her previous encounters with Trailfinders and the club culture as key reasons for making the switch.
She said: “I first became interested in joining Trailfinders after having played against them the past two seasons and liking their playing style and freedom on the pitch. What reassured my decision was hearing from my Canadian teammates how awesome the team culture is, and the buy-in from the group. I’m looking forward to playing my part.”
