Ealing Council has opened a new community and advice office for residents living in Southall’s Havelock estate which it says will be “bringing together teams from across Ealing Council to offer local people a better service”.
The Havelock Advice Venue, which is initially open two days a week, is based in a council owned building that was previously used by housing association Catalyst for use as an office during regeneration works on the estate.
Ealing Council said residents will be able to access a range of council services and advice from the community office including adult social care, housing and safer communities. Help from other community organisations will also be available.
Residents have been told that if the opening times does not meet their needs, these could change. Currently it is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 5pm.
Attending the formal opening of the office, Councillor Louise Brett, the council’s cabinet member for safe and genuinely affordable homes, said: “Working with our communities and engaging with our residents is vital to understanding the challenges they face where they live.”
Councillor Brett added: “We want to make sure that we are listening to our residents and empowering them to support the council vision of building stronger neighbourhoods.”
