Ealing’s streets were lined with runners on Sunday (28 September 2025) as the borough marked the return of the annual Ealing Half Marathon, drawing almost 4,500 participants and thousands more supporters.
The race, now a fixture in the UK’s running calendar, is celebrated for its tree-lined course and strong community backing. Near-ideal conditions added to an atmosphere that mixed competition with celebration, as residents turned out to support athletes of all abilities.
The men’s title went to Joe Wigfield of Team Morespace in 1hr 6min 40sec, while local runner Alice Braham of Ealing Eagles delighted the home crowd by claiming the women’s race in 1hr 17min 28sec.
While the elite times grabbed attention, the day was defined by inclusivity. First-time entrants, club athletes and charity fundraisers all took on the 13.1-mile challenge, raising more than £100,000 for causes including Macmillan Cancer Support, Meadow House Hospice and Shooting Star Children’s Hospice.
Race director Sandra Courtney praised the collective effort, saying: “The runners were incredible, but what makes this event so special is the way our residents, volunteers and partners come together year after year.”
The Ealing Mini Mile took place on Saturday, giving younger athletes their chance to shine, while Walpole Park became the hub of festivities with live music, food stalls and family entertainment.
