Postal vote application deadline looms

Ealing residents are being reminded by Ealing Council that the deadline to apply for a postal vote in next month’s local elections is fast approaching.

Voters have until 5pm on 21 April 2026 to apply for a postal vote ahead of the elections on 7 May 2026, when councillors will be elected across the borough.

Ealing Council, which has been run by Labour since 2010, has 56 Labour councillors, alongside eight Liberal Democrats, four Conservatives and two independents.

Anyone not already registered to vote must do so before applying for a postal vote. Residents can register online via the government website, a process that typically takes just a few minutes but requires details such as a National Insurance number.

Postal voting allows people who cannot attend a polling station in person to cast their vote by post. Applications can be completed online or by submitting a paper form, with voters required to provide a sample signature and date of birth for identity checks.

Postal ballot packs are issued in the weeks leading up to polling day. Voters are advised to complete and return them as soon as possible to ensure they are received in time to be counted.

Completed postal ballots must be returned by polling day. Those who miss the deadline can still apply for a proxy vote, allowing someone else to vote on their behalf.

Residents seeking more information or assistance can contact the council’s electoral services team via its website at Ealing Council elections page, by emailing electoralservices@ealing.gov.uk , or by calling 020 8825 7777.
