The London Borough of Ealing saw 12,922 fly-tipping incidents in 2022/23 according to the latest reporting numbers from the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.
The data, which was number crunched by rubbish removal company Hippo, reported on all London councils from the period April 2022 to March 2023 with Ealing emerging as the 14th highest local authority in London for fly-tipping.
Neighbouring borough Brent recorded the highest number of fly-tipping incidents with 34,830 while Hounslow was 26,135 and Hammersmith and Fulham was at 13,504.

Speaking to EALING.NEWS, an Ealing Council spokesperson said: “Fly-tipping is a blight on our communities. We spend about £400,000 a year just on clearing up reported fly tips – and then have to pay more to dispose of them. This is money that would be much better spent on other services.
“We will continue take tough action against those who fly tip. In 2023/24, we issued more than 3,600 fixed penalty notices (FPNs) for fly tipping, and we follow up any unpaid FPNs through the court process.
“We target known hotspots and track down offenders using the council’s network of 700 CCTV cameras. Our officers contact local businesses to check they have valid waste transfer agreements, and investigate rubbish left at fly tips.
“We can only clear up some cases of fly-tipping if we are made aware of them, so we encourage residents to let us know via Report It or the Love Clean Streets app. We investigate third party reports of fly tipping, and video footage – from dashcams, doorbell cameras, mobile phones etc – can make a real difference in those cases.”
