Transport for London (TfL) has said there will be more Elizabeth Line services at Southall, Hanwell and Acton Main Line from 18 May 2026, providing additional capacity during weekday morning peak hours.
Under the new timetable, three extra trains starting from Heathrow Terminal 5 will stop at the three stations between 07:30 and 09:00 each weekday morning as TfL seeks to ease crowding during the busiest part of the daily commute.
During the peak hour from 08:00 to 09:00, ten trains an hour will serve Southall. Hanwell will receive six trains an hour, while Acton Main Line will be served by eight.
The timetable update follows a review carried out with Network Rail and forms part of the regular national timetable changes that take place each May and December.
TfL said the changes would result in minor alterations to train times on other sections of the Elizabeth line. Passengers are being advised to check journey details before travelling, either online or via the TfL Go app.
Commenting on the announcement, Bassam Mahfouz, London Assembly Member for Ealing and Hillingdon said: “Residents have been clear: Acton Main Line, Hanwell and Southall need more trains. I’ve been pushing for exactly that and today’s announcement delivers. This is a big win for commuters across Acton, Hanwell and Southall, matching the seismic surge in demand since the game-changing Elizabeth line opened.”
Trish Ashton, TfL’s director of rail, said: “The Elizabeth line is the UK’s single busiest railway service, carrying an average of 800,000 customers a day during the week. These timetable updates at west London stations will provide additional capacity during the peak hours of the morning, helping customers travel more comfortably during this busier time.”
