Students at Greenford High School were given an insight into life beyond the classroom after meeting professionals from a wide range of industries at a Year 11 careers fair.
The event was organised by advisers from the Connexions Ealing Employment Engagement team and brought together business representatives from across the borough of Ealing, including specialists in engineering, finance, healthcare, legal services and construction.
Among those taking part was Shaan Patel, ophthalmic director at Specsavers Greenford, alongside optometrist Sarrah Mustafa, a former pupil of the school. Mr Patel said: “It was a pleasure to meet the students, answer their questions and discuss career options at Specsavers, including the apprenticeship programme.
“With so many career possibilities on offer these days, it can be quite overwhelming when selecting subjects for A-level. There was a real buzz at the careers fair and a vibrant atmosphere.”
Organisers said the fair was timed to coincide with a key decision point for pupils as they consider post-16 options. Meeting professionals from different sectors was intended to help students better understand the range of career pathways available.
