Ealing Council launches its first ever Climate Week

Ealing Council is preparing to host its first Climate Week later this month, with more than 40 events planned across the borough aimed at helping residents cut costs, get fitter and reduce waste.

Running from 20 to 28 September 2025 under the theme of Better Living, the programme will include everything from a school uniform swap to cycling through local parks. Organisers say each activity is designed to encourage people to make small, practical changes that can improve daily life while benefiting the environment.

Among the highlights are a free uniform exchange at the ReActon hub in Acton on 27 September 2025, a family-friendly cycle ride setting off from Pitshanger Park and Churchfields Recreation Ground the same day, and an Ealing Repair Café where residents can learn how to mend or upcycle clothes on 23 September.

The Southall Community Alliance will also be on hand with advice on cutting energy bills, while an Energy Support Hub will open at Acton Baptist Church on 20 September with information about grants and ways to make homes more comfortable.

Local groups are also involved. GoodGym Ealing and We Run Ealing are inviting people to join a run or walk and donate unwanted running gear – excluding footwear – to Open Southall, where items will be reused in art projects.

Council leader Councillor Peter Mason said: “Our first ever Ealing Climate Week is about sharing the everyday ways that we can save money, improve our health and build connections in our communities whilst also benefitting the environment. The number of community groups who have got involved shows how much activity is already happening.”

Councillor Paul Driscoll, cabinet member for climate action, added: “There’s a huge range of events and advice available across the borough during Ealing Climate Week, whether you want to save money on school uniform, cut your energy bills or get fitter and make friends in your neighbourhood. We want everyone to get involved.”
