An overgrown public open space on Church Path in Southfield ward was cleared and opened up during a community clean-up led by environmental charity Abundance London on Saturday (25 July 2026).
Volunteers, joined by Southfield ward Liberal Democrat councillors Gary Busuttil and Gary Malcolm, spent the day creating paths through the site and clearing trimmed grass and weeds to make the area more accessible and attractive.
Abundance London, which runs environmental and educational projects across west London, organised the clean-up as part of its work to improve urban green spaces through community volunteering.
Councillor Gary Malcolm, who is also leader of Ealing Liberal Democrats, said: “The Southfield councillors thank Abundance London for their work. They have really made the open space on Church Path much brighter. It is so important to cultivate and improve green spaces in our environment especially by making them cultivated and well looked after rather than unkempt and uncared for! Liberal Democrat Councillors were happy to help the volunteers to brighten up Southfield.”
