Ealing Council has celebrated construction workers, developers and employers for their contribution to the borough at the Ealing Construction Awards, held on 20 November. The event highlighted achievements across training, professional development and community-focused construction projects.
Charlotte Thomas, an HS2 apprentice, was named apprentice of the year for what the council described as outstanding performance and a strong impact in her workplace. Two other HS2 team members were also recognised. Julia Podlinksa received the award for outstanding professional growth, while work experience student of the year went to Luca Wickham, praised for his enthusiasm and the quality of his contribution during his placement.
Kamaljit Nagpal, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, said the awards demonstrated the sector’s role in creating opportunities for residents and supporting local communities.
Awards for businesses focused on social value, innovation and community engagement. Glencar Construction won best project for young people for its work experience programme supporting students with special educational needs. The initiative provides hands-on experience intended to build skills and confidence, including for students with challenging behaviours.
Hill Group collected two major awards. It was named developer of the year for what judges said was a commitment to meaningful initiatives for residents. The company also won best project overall for its Greenford Library “Glow Up Day”, which brought together 15 volunteers and subcontractors to carry out improvements ranging from painting and cleaning to lift installation and roof repairs.
