A 34-year-old man who raped and tortured a woman after she was abducted and taken to a house in Hanwell has been jailed for 34 years.
Gagandeep Singh, of Heathfield Road, Wandsworth, was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday (12 June 2026) after being found guilty of two counts of rape, kidnap, false imprisonment and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The court heard that the 24-year-old victim became suspicious when she was asked to bring a suitcase containing unknown items from Thailand back to the UK in June 2024.
After refusing, she arrived at Birmingham Airport and was put into a car by masked men before being driven to London. She was taken to a house in Hanwell, where she was subjected to more than a day of abuse, including being punched, beaten, stripped, whipped, burned and raped.
Following her release, the woman was threatened and warned not to tell anyone what had happened.
Although initially too traumatised to disclose the full extent of her ordeal, she later provided a detailed account to police with the support of her mother and specialist officers.
Detective Constable Seetara Abdul, who led the investigation, praised the victim’s “immense bravery” in helping bring her attacker to justice. She said: “The brutality of what the victim in this case faced is unimaginable. She has shown immense bravery in coming forward and helping us ensure her attacker faces justice.
“The cruel level of control left her fearing for her life. Threats were made to try and silence her, but the support of her mum and the diligent care shown by the officers investigating her case meant we were able to apprehend and charge an extremely dangerous individual.
A breakthrough came after clothing worn by the victim during the kidnapping was preserved by her mother and later examined by forensic specialists, revealing a DNA match to Singh.
Singh will serve 28 years in custody followed by a six-year extended licence period. After completing his sentence, he will be deported from the UK and barred from returning.
