Book of condolence opens for Councillor Dr Aysha Raza

A book of condolence has been opened at Perceval House, Ealing Council’s headquarters, following the death of Councillor Dr Aysha Raza.

The book has been placed in the foyer where residents can pay their respects after the Central Greenford councillor died on Sunday night (15 February 2026).

Councillor Raza, who was also a trustee of the Young Ealing Foundation, was first elected in 2014 and served the ward for more than a decade. She grew up in Greenford and attended Oldfield and Coston Primary schools, a local connection that friends said shaped her commitment to the area.

Between 2021 and 2023 she served as cabinet member for tackling crime and inequality, becoming Ealing Council’s first Muslim woman cabinet member.

As well as a trustee of the Young Ealing Foundation, Councillor Raza was also active in a number of community organisations across the borough, including The Ealing Wildlife Group, The Holy Cross Players and The Royal British Legion. She served as a governor at Stanhope Primary School and William Perkin High School.

Ealing Council leader Councillor Peter Mason said: “The news of Councillor Aysha Raza’s passing last night is incredibly saddening and our hearts go out to her family who are grieving her loss.”

He added: “Aysha was a diligent and steadfast campaigner who worked tirelessly for her community in Greenford. She will be remembered for the energy and enthusiasm she brought to campaigns not only our borough but beyond. She will be deeply missed by her Labour Group colleagues and across Ealing.”

The book of condolence will be available to sign between 9am and 7pm in the lobby of Perceval House, 14-16 Uxbridge Road, Ealing, W5 2HL.
