A woman was rescued by firefighters and a man taken to hospital after a house fire in Acton on Sunday (16 August 2026) which was caused by the unsafe disposal of smoking materials.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called at 6.40am to the semi-detached house on Taylors Green where half of the first floor was damaged by fire.
Crews from Park Royal, Acton and North Kensington attended and the fire was extinguished by 7.34am.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a woman from the ground floor. She was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews, while a man was taken to hospital.
London Fire Brigade said the fire is believed to have been accidental and was caused by smoking materials which had not been disposed of safely.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “If you smoke it is vitally important you stub it right out, preferably in an ashtray.
“Always ensure your cigarette is completely out when you’ve finished smoking it. If you don’t, you risk causing a fire.”
