New research has found that the number of home repossessions in Ealing between July 2024 and September 2024 was 50 homes or 13.52 per 100,000 people.
Legal services network Lawhive, number crunched the latest data from the Ministry of Justice on the number of home repossessions per local authority which revealed Enfield had the highest numbers at 186 or 55.71 per 100,000 people.
Neighbouring borough Hillingdon saw 121 home repossessions or 39.70 per 100,000 people while Brent saw 113 repossessions or 33.12 per 100,000 people.
Hounslow saw 39 home repossessions in its borough or 14.40 per 100,000 people while Hammersmith and Fulham was the lowest of the neighbouring boroughs to Ealing with a total of 15 repossessions or 8.10 per 100,000 people.
Daniel McAfee, head of legal operations at Lawhive said of the findings: “This study highlights the significant challenges that homeowners are facing in certain areas, particularly in London. Rising living costs are making it increasingly difficult for many residents to keep up with mortgage payments and other bills.”
Mr McAfee added: “It’s crucial for anyone struggling to seek legal advice early, as it can help with deferred payment plans, direct negotiation, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), and court proceedings support—potentially preventing repossession.”
