The 49-year-old who was born in Nigeria, grew up in Newham and now calls Ealing his home, has been closely connected to UWL for a number of years. In 2020, he opened a new sports and fitness centre at the Ealing-based University and encourages residents throughout the borough to improve their health and well-being.
In recognition of his sporting achievements, charitable endeavours and work as a presenter and travel documentary maker, UWL has awarded him an honorary degree which was given to him at Twickenham Stadium last week.
Commenting on the award Professor Peter John CBE, Vice-Chancellor of the University of West London said: “We are honoured to be awarding Ade this degree today. He is the living embodiment of triumph over adversity. Such resilience, talent and resourcefulness are values and skills that we instil and encourage in our students every day and Ade is an inspiration to us all.”
Ade revealed he was “overwhemled” by getting the honorary degree and told students in an inspirational message “never put a limit on what you can achieve. Today you have created your first blueprint for success”.
