A 37-year-old man from Northolt who lured a woman to a London hotel on the pretence of offering her work has been convicted of multiple sexual offences, as police appealed for other victim-survivors to come forward.
Gurwinder Singh, of Kingshill Avenue, was found guilty at Southwark crown court on Wednesday (18 February 2026) of rape, attempted rape, assault by penetration, two counts of sexual assault and common assault. He is due to be sentenced on 15 April 2026.
The court heard that on 22 June 2025 a woman contacted police to report she had been raped at a hotel in Paddington. She had been communicating via WhatsApp with someone she believed to be a woman who could help her secure shifts as a care worker. She was told to provide her national insurance number and passport details and was given an address to attend on the evening of 21 June 2025 to assist an injured sportsman.
Police said she was met at a station by Singh, who claimed to be a care assistant. They travelled to a hotel, where he left her in a room saying the patient would arrive shortly. He later returned claiming to be the sportsman and asked for a massage. When she refused, he became violent and assaulted and raped her. The woman fled the hotel in distress and was helped by two members of the public.
Later that evening, she received a call threatening that footage of the incident would “go viral” if she reported it. She contacted police the following day.
Officers arrested Singh at the same hotel on 11 August 2025 and seized nine devices. Detectives said he had posed as a woman online and booked rooms at the hotel more than 100 times between December 2024 and August 2025.
Detective constable Lydia Webb said: “We believe that there may be other women who have been subject to Singh’s crimes.”
