A Metropolitan Police officer serving in the force’s West Area, which covers Ealing, Hillingdon and Hounslow, has been dismissed after a disciplinary panel found he made a discriminatory comment while on duty.
The hearing, which concluded on 19 February 2026, found that PC Brendan Jones made the remark in the presence of another officer. A second allegation, that he made a racist comment to his police trainer, was found not proven.
Acting Chief Superintendent Sean Lynch, who oversees policing in west London, said: “The behaviour of PC Jones fell well below that expected of a serving officer. There is no place for discriminatory views in the Met or in policing. We are committed to rooting out officers who do not meet our values or the standards Londoners rightly expect.”
The panel found Jones breached police standards of professional behaviour relating to discreditable conduct and equality and diversity. It concluded the misconduct amounted to gross misconduct and was serious enough to justify his immediate dismissal.
The Met said Jones will be placed on the barred list held by the College of Policing, preventing him from being employed by police forces, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
