Following GCSE results day last Thursday (20 August 2026), Ealing Council has revealed that 82.1% of students achieved a pass in English, while 76.5% did so in maths, with both results well above London and national averages.
In English, the London average was 63.5% and the national average 59.5%, while in maths the respective figures were 60.6% and 57.2%.
The figures, released today (24 August 2026), are based on results collected from most of the borough’s secondary schools.
The council also said Ealing’s average Attainment 8 score had increased slightly. The measure is based on students’ results across eight subjects.
It has not published Ealing’s 2026 Attainment 8 score, but said it expects the borough to remain above the 2025 London average of 50.5 and national average of 45.9.
Councillor Blerina Hashani, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for a fairer start, said: “The early results are very encouraging and show the borough continuing to perform strongly compared with both London schools and schools across the country.
“Whether students are moving on to sixth form, further education, apprenticeships or other opportunities, I wish them every success in the next stage of their journey.”
Speaking to EALING.NEWS, Councillor Julian Gallant, leader of Ealing Conservatives, said: “It’s very encouraging to see our Ealing GCSE attainment holding up, a tribute to pupils’ hard work and to the Borough’s excellent teachers. It also shows how important GCSE is as an educational milestone. Now let’s all of us help these young people get on, get further qualifications and get into good jobs.”
Councillor Adam Keenan, Ealing Liberal Democrats spokesperson for children’s services, told EALING.NEWS: “Ealing’s GCSE results are exceptional. It is clear that students’ hard work has paid off. Well done.
