On 25 June 2026, residents in the North Acton ward will vote in a by-election to choose who represents them at Ealing Council.
EALING.NEWS has asked all candidates standing to become a councillor, 7 questions about who they are, what they hope to deliver and why they want residents to vote for them.
Here’s what Sally Gorman, standing for Conservatives in North Acton has to say:
Tell us a bit about yourself, your priorities for the North Acton ward and why you want to be councillor?
I am a hard working and conscientious person who wants to be able to help improve the local community in North Acton.
What motivates you?
I am not the sort of person who wants recognition and power – you will not see me appearing on Good Morning Britain! I want to help local people and local businesses.
What is your own personal connection to either North Acton or any other part of the borough?
I live in North Acton ward, so am a local candidate who has loved living in Acton for nearly 30 years.
What do you consider to be your 3 top political, work or personal achievements and what impact have they had?
As a full-time working mother, I was used to juggling competing demands under pressure. My background as a civil engineer and accountant in large PLCs has given me a practical, problem-solving approach to work. Following the outbreak of Covid 19 I became a carer for my Mum, which reinforced my sense of responsibility and the importance of supporting others.
What do you consider to be the top 3 challenges North Acton ward faces and how will you as a councillor address them?
North Acton faces challenges from anti-social behaviour, fly-tipping and dirty streets and as a North Acton councillor I would work with residents and support services to tackle the causes and create a safer community.
In addition, I would work with TfL to increase the frequency of trains stopping at Acton Main Line on the Elizabeth Line, improve capacity and make journeys better for commuters.
What do you love about North Acton ward and the borough of Ealing?
I love the friendly, neighbourhood feel of North Acton, the green spaces and the variety of local services.
How accessible will you be to North Acton ward residents and how can they get in contact with you now and if elected how will you ensure you are accessible to them in the future?
I am standing for election because I believe local North Acton residents’ concerns have been ignored by Ealing Council and the Labour councillors, particularly regarding the introduction of a school street scheme despite significant local opposition and ongoing concerns about its impact on safety and the other local North Acton roads.
If elected, I would be a councillor who listens, represents residents’ views, and works with them to find solutions. Rather than making decisions that leave communities feeling ignored. Contact Sally Gorman: email: office@ealingconservatives.org.uk
