Women’s rights group Southall Black Sisters (SBS) has been given a £2,000 donation to help with its work to tackle domestic abuse and other forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG) targeted against Black, minority and migrant women.
The donation was made by property developer Chancerygate and construction contractor Magrock who are currently building the Harlequin Business Park on Southall Lane.
The donation will help SBS with its work and to also to help pay for service users’ legal fees.
Selma Taha, executive director, SBS said: “We are grateful for the donation from Chancerygate and Magrock. Every contribution to our relentless fight to end VAWG, and to ensure that Black, minoritised and migrant women who are among the most marginalised with the least state protections are not left behind, is invaluable. Chancerygate and Magrock are making a real difference to the lives of the victim-survivors we support.”
Amanda Walker, Chancerygate Foundation director, said: “Southall Black Sisters is a fantastic initiative with a focus on helping minoritised women who are in need of advice and guidance.”
Ms Walker added: “It is a pleasure to support the charity through this donation and help its team to continue to provide specialist guidance for women who need their services.”
