Prince William’s visit to ActOne Cinema has been described as an “amazing boost” for the community-run Acton venue, which celebrates its fifth birthday next month (8 October 2026).
The Prince of Wales visited the independent, community-led cinema on Tuesday (22 September 2026), meeting the team behind ActOne as well as young filmmakers and creators from the local community.
During the visit, Prince William went behind the counter and served a bag of popcorn to three ActOne regulars.
ActOne director Nick Jones told EALING.NEWS the visit was recognition of what local residents had achieved in bringing the former Passmore Edwards Library back into use.
Mr Jones said: “The visit of HRH Prince William was an amazing boost for ActOne!
“It showed his recognition and admiration for the achievements of the local residents in restoring the beautiful 120-year-old Passmore Edwards building and turning it into a hub for culture and the community.
“We celebrate our fifth birthday in a few weeks’ time and his visit underlined the importance of ActOne to Ealing and what a shining example it is – as he said while there it provides a great model for others who would like to create something similar in their own area.”
Prince William also met young filmmakers and creators from the local community, including some who have been supported by ActOne in making and releasing their films.
He also met representatives of the Film and TV Charity and discussed its work on access and inclusion in the industry, as well as support for the mental health and financial wellbeing of people working in film and television.
