A man has been arrested with a machete after a police pursuit in South Acton, while multiple machetes have been found in a vehicle in a separate incident.
The discoveries were among several incidents dealt with by officers in Acton during the first two weeks of August.
Police said a man riding a moped tried to evade officers in the Mill Hill Road area before abandoning it and being chased on foot.
He was detained on Woodlands Avenue and found with a machete.
In a separate incident on Avenue Road, officers forced their way into a vehicle and recovered multiple machetes along with other items which police described as illegal.
The Met said enquiries into those involved were continuing. It has not said how many machetes were recovered or given details of the other items found.
Officers also seized another vehicle on Avenue Road during the first half of the month.
In Acton Park, a high-powered motorcycle was seized under Section 59 powers after police said it was being ridden antisocially.
Police Constable Mohammad Naja, of the South Acton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said drug use, drug dealing and street drinking had been a “significant focus” for officers across Acton over the summer.
He said: “Alongside this, officers have continued to carry out proactive patrols, investigations, and enforcement activity aimed at keeping South Acton safe.”
PC Naja said the team had also been affected during August by officers being required elsewhere across the Met’s West Area.
He added: “During the August period, the team has been subject to a number of abstractions across West Area policing, which can sometimes limit the amount of time we are able to spend directly on the ward.”
