Two academics from Ealing’s University of West London (UWL) have been appointed to senior roles in a new £22 million health and social care research partnership across the capital.
Professor Rowan Myron and Professor Laura Lennox, from UWL’s Geller Institute of Ageing and Memory (GIAM), will help oversee work aimed at making better use of medical research within NHS and social care services.
The £22 million government-funded project is part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration London, which brings together universities, NHS trusts and other organisations to improve health and social care across the capital.
Much of the work will involve finding ways to make better use of existing medical research, so that discoveries and findings do not remain confined to universities but can help shape the care people receive.
Professor Myron will co-lead efforts to share research with NHS and social care professionals, while Professor Lennox will concentrate on helping healthcare organisations put that research into practice.
Professor Myron said: “We are very excited to be working with our partners across London to mobilise knowledge into practice and ensure all our patients across our region are receiving the best evidence-based care.”
