Nearly 2,000 fewer people were on employers’ payrolls in Ealing last month than a year earlier, although wages continued to rise faster than inflation.
New analysis of HMRC figures by WageSight reveals 181,268 people were on employers’ payrolls in the borough in June 2026 – 1,856 fewer than in June 2025, a fall of 1%.
Payroll numbers changed little compared with May, with employers reporting just four more people on their payrolls during the month.
The typical worker’s pay continued to increase, with median monthly earnings in Ealing reaching £2,908 in June, up 4.5% on a year earlier.
After allowing for inflation, the figures show workers in Ealing are now around £25 a month better off in real terms than they were in February 2022, before the sharp rise in the cost of living.
