Ealing Central and Acton MP Dr Rupa Huq has welcomed the reopening of a former Carpetright store on Uxbridge Road near Ealing Common after it was brought back into use by Tapi Carpets & Floors.
The new store opened on Saturday (6 June 2026) in the same premises vacated when Carpetright administrators shut the branch in summer 2024 as part of the retailer’s collapse, which led to more than 200 store closures and over 1,000 job losses across the UK.
Tapi Carpets & Floors later acquired the Carpetright brand and intellectual property and has now opened a showroom at the site, bringing a prominent retail unit in Ealing back into use.

Dr Huq told EALING.NEWS: “It’s really exciting to see new life being breathed into a unit that had been vacant for two years. In Parliament we’ve frequently had debates on the decline of the high street so good to see Tapi bucking the trend here.
“The old Carpetright always seemed to be thriving and I understand that it was one of the better performing branches of the chain so I am hoping this new venture, Tapi, a word I remember from my French lessons at school, goes from strength to strength after this grand opening.”
The opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Tapi founder and chairman Lord Philip Harris, along with regional and divisional managers and members of the Ealing Common store team.
Customers attending the launch were offered refreshments and special deals on flooring purchases and home visit bookings.
