Residents in North Acton ward will head to the polls next month after Ealing Council confirmed the date of a by-election triggered by the resignation of newly elected Green Party councillor Simon Anthony.
Polling day for the North Acton ward by-election will take place on 25 June 2026.
Mr Anthony resigned less than two weeks after winning his seat in the 7 May 2026 Ealing Council elections, citing health reasons after considering his position.
The Green Party candidate secured 1,298 votes in the closely fought North Acton contest, finishing second behind Labour councillor Blerina Hashani, who topped the poll with 1,356 votes. Labour councillor Hodan Mohamoud Haili retained the ward’s third seat with 1,296 votes.
Poll cards for the by-election are expected to be sent to electors in the ward this weekend.
Anyone interested in standing has until 4pm 29 May 2026 to submit their nomination papers.
The statement of persons nominated — confirming the final list of candidates standing in the election — will be published at 5pm on 29 May 2026.
Electors with an existing postal vote arrangement will receive their postal ballot packs during the week beginning 8 June 2026.
Residents who are not yet registered to vote have until midnight on 9 June 2026 to register, while the deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on 10 June 2026.
