Year 2 pupils at St Vincent’s Primary School in Acton have taken part in a mental wellbeing workshop led by Youth Ambassadors from West London NHS Trust’s Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) during Children’s Mental Health Week ( 9 to 15 February 2026).
The session focused on the theme “This Is My Space”, encouraging children to reflect on belonging and emotional safety. Pupils shared ideas about what helps them feel included, supported and connected at school before taking part in a creative exercise drawing their own “safe spaces” – places, people or moments that make them feel calm and secure. The workshop ended with a gentle grounding activity introducing simple mindful breathing techniques. Staff said the children were enthusiastic throughout.
Tania Khamo, senior participation wellbeing practitioner within CAMHS and lead for the Youth Ambassador programme, said: “It was fantastic to see the Year 2 children at St Vincent’s Primary in Acton engage so openly with the workshop. Our Youth Ambassadors brought the theme ‘This Is My Space’ to life in such a relatable way, and the pupils really embraced the activities.”
She added that early conversations about mental wellbeing “make a huge difference” and praised the school’s commitment to making mental health part of everyday learning.
Gurpriya, a newly appointed Youth Ambassador, said: “This was my first time delivering a workshop as a Youth Ambassador, and it was such a positive experience. Being able to support that conversation, using my own lived experience, felt incredibly meaningful.”
