As the UK marks Holocaust Memorial Day 2026 on Tuesday 27 January under the theme “Bridging Generations”, Ealing Council has invited residents to a public commemoration at 11am in the Atrium at Perceval House.
The event will mark the annual day of remembrance for the six million Jewish people murdered in the Holocaust, as well as other victims of Nazi persecution and those killed in more recent genocides.
Organisers say the theme reflects the passage of time, with a renewed focus on how testimony and historical knowledge are carried forward as fewer survivors are able to speak in person.
Students from Brentside High, Cardinal Wiseman, Featherstone and Ada Lovelace high schools will read pledges they have written, with a candle lit as each is read. Residents are asked to arrive by 10.45am as space is limited.
The Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Anthony Kelly, will give a welcome address, followed by Ealing Council leader, Councillor Peter Mason, who will also introduce the borough’s statements of commitment.
A guest speaker, Maralyn Turgel, will share her father’s story from the Holocaust, while interfaith prayers will be led by Rabbi Vogel of Ealing United Synagogue, Fr David Neno, area dean at St Peter’s Church, and Rabbi Miri Lawrence of Ealing Liberal Synagogue.
