The Felix Project aims high on A40

Vanguard Self Storage is using the roof of its building on the A40 between Perivale and Hanger Lane to raise awareness of the Park Royal-based food rescue charity The Felix Project.

The company has installed one of the charity’s branded vans on top of its West London site, where it is visible to passing traffic. Vanguard said the rooftop display is intended to highlight the scale of food poverty in the capital and the work carried out by The Felix Project. It is the second time in a year the two organisations have partnered together.

The Felix Project rescues surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and redistributes it to people in need through community organisations and schools. The charity said that last year it rescued more than 18,000 tonnes of food, the equivalent of over 43 million meals, and supported more than 1,200 community organisations and primary schools across every London borough.

Will McCullagh, managing director of Vanguard Self Storage, said: “As a family-run business with a long history in the capital, we are committed to supporting our local charities and communities.”

Shane Dorsett, chief operating officer at The Felix Project, said: “We know so many Londoners are really struggling,” adding that recent research found 43% of working parents in London had skipped meals to feed their children in the past year.

The installation will remain in place until March 2026.
